We are looking for a Sr. System Engineer to join our team of designers of cutting-edge components for space and national security applications including Space Rated Cameras, Star Trackers and Laser Communications.

The ideal candidate is a technical expert who will support the architecture design, the development, launch and sustainment of every product in the camera and star tracker portfolio.

Job Description:

The Sr. System Engineer (SE) will be responsible for system level engineering.

This position is to plan, lead and conduct system requirements development, system design, system integration, qualification, testing and oversight of the entire life cycle of our space camera and star tracker portfolio.
 Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and, due to the nature of this role, this position will be performed fulltime on site. 

Essential Functions:

  • Work with a cross functional team of Customers, Engineers, and Program Management to develop a requirements verification and compliance matrix and ensure all customer requirements are satisfied with appropriate test methods, reports and artifacts
  • Design and finalize top-level system architecture and block diagrams with partitioning of design and details of subassembly interconnections
  • Define top level internal and external interfaces and control documents
  • Ensure that the system architecture is realizable, testable, maintainable, supportable
  • Perform optimization activities, analysis and trade studies
  • Support integration, verification and, validation
  • Communicate to the Project and Design Engineers their requirement allocations, interface requirements and design budgets, including derived requirements to each board boundary
  • Develop system level verification, qualification, acceptance and production test flow and test plans
  • Develop coherent product specifications and design documentation
  • Adhere to Voyager Technologies Standard Operating Procedures and quality standards
  • Coordinate and provide technical leadership to engineering design teams during the development of space camera and star tracker products.
  • Mentor a product team and nurture a customer-driven product culture.
  • Assist with developing a vision and set the strategic direction of the product which aligns with customer needs, business growth, and overall technology strategy.
  • Define and maintain product requirements and roadmaps.
  • Drive scalable processes and innovation around the product development cycle.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience in a relevant field) in engineering or systems engineering with a minimum work experience of:
    1. 8+ Years with BS
    2. 6+ Years with MS
    3. 4+ Year with PHD
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with requirements management software (e.g. JAMA, DOORS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cameras and star trackers
  • 5+ years of leadership experience and proven ability to lead projects to completion
  • Solid technical understanding of CMOS image sensors
  • Experience leading deeply technical product development
  • Experience with camera module design and integration using CMOS image sensors
  • Experience analyzing CMOS image sensor metrics including sensitivity, dynamic range, power consumption and noise characteristics
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate teams across a variety of functional roles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
