Job description
As a team, we’ve launched five satellites into orbit, signed ten commercial deals worth over $1 billion in revenue, raised over $750 million from top global investors, and recruited a team of over 400 world-class engineers. We all work out of our (legendary) San Francisco office, which was once used to build ships during the World Wars.
Our satellites, which operate from geostationary orbit (GEO), weigh only 400 kg and utilize a proprietary software-defined radio payload. Each satellite can connect over two million people, and we’re very excited for the impact we’ll soon have in the Philippines, Peru, Mexico, and more!
Backed by substantial funding and a passionate, collaborative team, we offer a rewarding work environment where you'll learn and make a significant impact, no matter where you are in your career.
Sr. Associate, Strategic Finance
As a Senior Associate at Astranis, you will own our long-term financial model and assist the company with raising debt and equity capital. You will be the first person on the Strategic Finance team, and will help the company scale up significantly.
Our ideal candidate is someone who has seen dozens or hundreds of different growth-stage company models as a banker or investor and would never be caught dead using their mouse while building a financial model.
Role:
- Build and own the long-term financial model that is primarily used for equity and debt fundraising, ensuring it can withstand the scrutiny of growth-stage investors
- Attending fundraising calls/meetings alongside our CEO to ensure all goes smoothly
- Prepare materials for fundraising and other initiatives for the Office of the CEO, including slides, models, supporting material for the data room, etc.
- Handle the nuts and bolts of a fundraise, including organization and tracking
- Dive deep into the details of our technical development programs, understanding what exactly you’re modeling and why the assumptions are the way they are
- Serve the broader finance and accounting team, bringing your expertise in modeling to bear on FP&A, FinOps, accounting, and more
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline
- 2+ years of investment banking experience (or equivalent experience in which you built/saw tons of growth-stage company models)
- Ideally, direct operational experience building and owning the model for a growth-stage startup
- Excel wizardry: able to build models from a blank Excel file, without relying on your macros, with speed and accuracy
- Knows how to defend a model (and/or how to poke holes in one) to discerning growth-stage investors
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and influence/drive change cross-functionally
Bonus:
- Previous work on U.S. Government programs
