The Land and Maritime Sensors (LMS) Business Unit has an immediate need for a Staff EW Engineer / Chief Product Owner (T06 Band Level) to guide the development of a next generation maritime RF sensor system and mission solution. The Chief Product Owner (CPO) position offers a strategic leadership opportunity, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the product's vision and strategy to align with the customer needs and threat landscape. You will lead and inspire multiple highly motivated and technically skilled development, integration, and analysis teams dedicated to innovative product development. As the CPO, you will be responsible for defining the overall product vision, crafting a minimum viable product, and managing cross-team dependencies to drive success. Engaging with key stakeholders, you will ensure clear communication and alignment on product goals and strategies. Your attention to detail will guide the team in achieving its objectives, ensuring high-quality outcomes. Additionally, you will oversee the budgeting of requirements and responsibilities across teams, ensuring efficient collaboration and project success. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate, making a significant impact on the product's success and the organization's growth. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a capability phasing plan satisfying program budget and schedule constraints.

  • Provide clear direction for technical development and incremental phasing of capabilities into a deliverable software product.

  • Responsible for cross team Product Owner alignment between SW development, Integration and Test, and System Analysis.

  • Define technical priorities aligned with program objectives.

  • Define system capability aligned with system requirements and customer feedback

  • Collaborate with the I&T Lead, SEIT Lead, and the Chief Engineer to develop the Tier 1 & 2 program schedules.

  • Write clear acceptance criteria for Epics; collaborate with Product Owners to ensure the Sprint plans support the completion of Epics.

  • Ensure Product Team alignment with program priorities and capability phasing plan.

  • Track and report status of high priority bug tickets.

  • Identify and document capabilities and limitations of software releases.

  • Identify, assess, manage and report technical risks.

  • Provide clear communications and support to the Product Teams.

  • Present to customers and senior management, with tailored material based on the audience.

This position is contingent upon transfer of DoD Secret Clearance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 14 years of experience; or 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree or 10 years of relevant experience with a Ph.D. 4 additional years in lieu of a degree

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance is required

  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and creatively to tackle complex challenges and deliver groundbreaking results.

  • Excellent decision-making and communication skills to effectively convey ideas and strategies, both in writing and verbally.

  • Experience designing, developing, or integrating RF systems or subsystems, contributing to advanced technological capabilities.

  • Team player with a strong work ethic and initiative to perform in a cross-product team.

  • Demonstrated ability to present technically complex material and program status to senior leaders and customers.

  • Experience in Agile, Jira, and Confluence.


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience as a Product Owner or other relevant role driving innovation and success.

  • Experience collaborating with the government customer to define and develop cutting-edge system capability.

  • Depth or breadth of expertise in design, development, and/or integration and test of Electronic Warfare systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver outstanding results even under pressure.

  • Experience with the software development process contributing towards advanced technical solutions.

  • Proven ability to successfully lead the planning, development, integration, and delivery of complex technical systems within budget and schedule constraints.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

Salary Range: $179,600.00 - $269,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
