This position is located at our manufacturing and test facility in Briggs, TX north of Austin, TX.

SUMMARY

As a GSE Technician Supervisor, you will coordinate the fabrication of a variety of Ground Support Equipment. You will work closely with engineers, purchasers and contractors while directing GSE technicians to facilitate cost-effective and on-time GSE project builds. You will have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques to influence and drive simplicity, manufacturability, operability, and serviceability into mechanical and fluid systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and mentor GSE technicians on best practices, industry standards and Firefly specific processes.
  • Work with technicians to fabricate and install fluid system components from a schematic or engineering drawings.
  • Train technicians on heavy machinery including forklifts and aerial platforms.
  • Supervise technicians and work with leadership and engineering to ensure all systems are built by appropriate priority and with the highest level of quality.
  • Provide continuous daily support to interdepartmental Firefly GSE needs.
  • Supervise contract support when 3rd party technician support is required to meet deadlines.
  • Assist other technicians, contractors and engineers during test stand build and activation.
  • Escalate issues/problems that impact project deliverables.
  • Supervise shop/field activities, including daily schedules, workflow, and all performance management related tasks.
  • Review work instructions and make change recommendations when needed.
  • Assess and vet appropriate skillsets as needed. Identify training needs and develop training programs to fit the needs of the department.
  • Effectively organize, assign, and track work/tasks for the team, ensuring technicians are set up for success.
  • Initiate and foster good working relationships between departments.
  • Ensure build quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED:

  • 4+ years’ experience in leading teams and projects.
  • Previous experience in GSE system fabrication and Test Stand Builds.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Meticulous craftsmanship.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend system P&ID’s.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate P&IDs into construction schematics.
  • Proficient use of job-related tools and precision measurement instruments.
  • Familiarity working and coordinating with other Firefly departments.
  • Experience working with Computer systems such as Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, NX and Team Center.
  • Use and enforcement of personal protective equipment.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Safety oriented mindset.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles and efficiency methods.
  • 8+ years of experience in discipline and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in building teams and processes from a R&D base to a professional organization.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability, lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work tasks and fast paced work environment.
  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
