Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking an experienced RF Communications-Systems Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting our Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a program out of our Fairfax, VA office.
What You’ll get to Do:
Analyze, model, design and simulate communications systems, subsystems, and algorithms for communication networks, data links, digital radio, battle management, and command and control systems such as wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema, digital radio/communications technology and network architecture design.
This position will be located at our Fairfax Virginia location.
This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.
Basic Qualifications
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at the time of application
Minimum years of experience needed to be considered:
8 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's
6 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's
4 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D.
10 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree
12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required)
Must have experience on all of the below:
RF communications domain expertise
RF communications capabilities (waveforms, data rates)
Configuration of the RF chain
RF comms mission engineering
Using and configuring software-defined modems
Interface Control Document development and associated block diagrams
RF link budget analysis
Radio Frequency Interference analysis
Creating and controlling engineering documentation for formal milestone reviews
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML
Interfacing with program and customer personnel.
Demonstrated proficiency with Terrestrial Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) – Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) site survey scans
Demonstrated proficiency with Spectrum Management and Frequency Clearance activities
Demonstrated proficiency with Electrical Power Budgets and Power Distribution Single Line Diagrams.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must be able to support 30% CONUS/OCONUS travel as business needs demand
Preferred Qualifications
Favorably adjudicated FS or CI polygraph
STEM degree
Experience with Civil Engineering projects
Experience conducting trade-studies
Experience briefing at formal milestone reviews
Experience in working with multiple subcontractors
Test Engineering development for large-scale Mission / Cross-Mission test campaigns

Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
