As a Structural Dynamics Engineer, you will be part of the Structure & Mechanical Department. You will be responsible for the ground and in-flight induced vehicle environments, system dynamics and vehicle dynamics of the Zephyr launch system.

  • Determine and validate loads and environments for Zephyr and component subsystems.
  • Resolve dynamics problems through analysis, test and the use of flight data
  • Build finite element models of launch vehicle systems
  • Determine appropriate environments from vibration, acoustic, and shock sources
  • Generate and apply forcing functions for engine-borne dynamic excitation
  • Develop Craig-Bampton reduced models for launch vehicle integration
  • Contribute to dynamic testing from start-to-finish (pre-test analysis, sensor selection & installation, testing, data analysis, signal processing and model correlation)
  • Effectively communicate results to Responsible Engineers and Designers and collaborate on improvements and solutions
  • Documentation and compliance: develop technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and test results. Ensure designs comply with aerospace standards and safety requirements.

Preferred experience and skills

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Proven experience (min 3 years) with structural dynamic analysis, preferably in the aerospace domain
  • You have a good knowledge of mechanics, structure, dimensioning, development and CAD
  • Proficient in finite element modeling, preferably in NASTRAN
  • Experience solving structural dynamic or vibration driven problems
  • Experience with time and frequency domain analysis
  • Experience with dynamic structural testing, including: random vibration, acoustics, sine vibration, sine burst, shock, and modal survey
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis and test, including a fundamental understanding of strength, stability and fatigue failure mechanisms
  • You are passionate with a good sense of perspective
  • You have a good level both in French and English
  • A knowledge of PERMAS software would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of structural-fluid coupling problems would be a plus
  • Previous launcher dynamic analysis would be ideal
