Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) and now expanding into Tulsa, OK. Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.
Description:
As a Test Engineer III/IV, you will play a critical role in advancing the development of cutting-edge propulsion systems for space exploration. Agile Space Technologies is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team of experts in a fast-paced, innovative testing environment. In this role, you will take on more complex responsibilities in test operations, data analysis, and the development of propulsion systems. You will work alongside senior engineers, providing leadership and expertise to drive projects that are shaping the future of aerospace technology.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the setup, execution, and data collection for engine testing, ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy.
- Perform advanced data analysis and generate comprehensive test reports, presenting findings to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Take initiative in developing and refining test procedures, protocols, and best practices to improve test efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve test anomalies, implementing corrective actions, and contributing to continuous process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless test operations and project milestones are met.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures, leading by example.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management, taking on increasingly complex projects and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in test engineering, with a strong focus on propulsion systems or aerospace technology.
- Strong technical expertise in test operations, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to develop and implement test procedures and protocols.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and collaborate across teams.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work for extended periods while wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and varied hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced experience with hypergolic propulsion systems and related testing.
- Expertise in test equipment and instrumentation.
- High proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, etc.).
- Deep understanding of propulsion system fundamentals and cutting-edge technologies in aerospace engineering.
- Prior experience leading or managing testing projects or teams.
Physical Requirements
The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required while performing certain tasks, including but not limited to:
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection (as determined by specific tasks)
- Safety shoes
- Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) or respirator
Additional physical demands may include:
- Frequent walking, sitting, and standing
- Ability to lift 35 pounds repeatedly
