We are looking for an experienced ESD Engineer III to join our team. The ESD Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrostatic discharge (ESD) control programs for the Axiom Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Spacesuit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ESD principles, industry standards, and hands-on experience with implementing ESD controls in manufacturing and testing environments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive ESD control programs for the organization, ensuring all materials, equipment, and processes are compliant with industry standards and NASA (e.g., IEC 61340, NASA-HDBK-8739.21, ANSI/ESD S20.20)
Develops and executes ESD test plans
Develop and conduct ESD awareness and training sessions for employees, including proper handling of sensitive components, use of ESD protective equipment (e.g., wrist straps, mats), and adherence to ESD protocols
Investigate and analyze ESD-related failures, using root cause analysis techniques to determine the source of issues and recommend corrective actions. Work closely with quality and engineering teams to resolve ESD-related problem
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A certification in ESD control (e.g., ESD Control Certified Professional - ESCD) is highly desirable
Automotive and commercial electronics background welcome.
5+ years of experience working as an ESD Engineer or in a similar role in an electronics environment
Strong knowledge of ESD principles, equipment, and best practices
Hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining ESD control systems in both laboratory and production settings
Familiarity with ESD testing equipment (e.g., resistance meters, field meters, and charge decay testers)
Knowledge of international ESD standards and industry regulations (e.g., NASA-HDBK-8739.21, ANSI/ESD S20.20, IEC 61340)
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve ESD-related issues in manufacturing and assembly processes

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
