REQUIREMENT

ARCTOS is actively seeking a Scientist/Engineer I to join our growing Biotechnology Programs team. As a member of the team, you'll play a crucial role in technology development across a number of chem-bio and civil engineering contract research agendas. You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting edge technology development at high TRLs, working closely with government and client groups to produce key data packages and system prototypes to forward technologies towards adoption and application.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, design, and execute experiments across various contract efforts (with focus on novel cementious materials and fibers/textiles) across scales (lab, pilot, and field tests)
  • Develop and adapt testing methodologies to support novel material testing requirements
  • Prepare experimental data package readouts for contract reporting requirements
  • Support system prototyping efforts for field deployment systems and operationalization 
  • Support field testing/demonstration activities
  • Coordinate and collaborate with contract partners, academic institutions, contract research organizations and manufactures to successfully complete contract objectives

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for technology development
  • Basic understanding of microbiology, chemistry, and materials testing standards/practices
  • Familiarity with relevant statistical analyses for material testing panels
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges

  

EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Materials Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field (required)
  • 2+ years of experience in materials research, process development, and system prototyping 
  • Familiarity with material testing standards (ASTM, ISO, AATCC)
  • U.S. citizen (required) with eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance, if necessary

PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Requires working in a physical office/lab setting and field sites, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds

 

TRAVEL

  • Anticipated travel to government and client sites in the CONUS up to 10%, and will performed will be under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations and/or Joint Travel Regulations.
