MISSION OF THE POSITION

The Supply Chain Manager will play a vital role in supporting the design, fabrication, and assembly of Starlab’s space station. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of aerospace supply chain management, with experience in NewSpace or commercial spaceflight. This role requires collaboration with engineering, procurement, and supplier teams to deliver high-quality components and systems on time and within budget.

This role reports directly to the Starlab Chief Procurement Officer.  The Supply Chain Manager works alongside the Chief Engineer and Starlab Program Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Act as the primary liaison between engineering and procurement teams, ensuring technical requirements are effectively translated into procurement specifications and supplier deliverables.
2. Develop and execute procurement strategies for critical systems and subsystems
3. Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities to buy catalog vs. custom items in support of design-to-cost initiatives.
4. Engage and onboard suppliers, ensuring alignment with Starlab’s technical, schedule, and budgetary requirements.
5. Represent Starlab and the primary Point of Contact (POC) for supplier relationships, including contract management, negotiations, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.  
6. Implement and optimize supply chain processes embedded within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
7. Monitor supplier performance metrics, including on-time delivery, cost compliance, and quality standards.
8. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, particularly for high-impact and long-lead components.
9. Support the phased integration of ERP/PLM tools and processes to improve supply chain visibility and efficiency.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace supply chain management, with a focus on NewSpace or commercial spaceflight.
• Strong understanding of human spaceflight supply chain requirements and challenges.
• Proven ability to manage complex supply chains, including subsystems and components with long lead times.
• Experience working with procurement tools such as NetSuite, Airtable, Confluence, Jira, or similar systems.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with US content requirements and export control regulations (EAR/ITAR).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in supply chain management for human spaceflight programs.
• Knowledge of design-to-cost principles and catalog utilization strategies.
• Based in Houston, Texas, or willing to travel periodically to Houston for team collaboration and supplier meetings.
