Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) and now expanding into Tulsa, OK. Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.

Description:

AGILE is seeking an experienced an experienced and highly skilled System Engineer IV to provide leadership in the design, development, and integration of hypergolic propulsion systems for a variety of in-space applications. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Business Development, and others to ensure the rapid and successful design, development, and delivery of propulsion solutions.

As a System Engineer IV, you will provide technical leadership and direction for propulsion system design, utilizing your deep expertise in propulsion technologies and systems engineering while supporting project execution activities. You will be responsible for driving innovation in hypergolic propulsion systems and ensuring that designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.  AGILE follows a fast paced culture and the ideal candidate will have the opportunity for growth and increased sphere of influence. Critical skillsets being sought after include proficiency in propulsion system architecture development, requirement decomposition and management along with risk and opportunity management for hardware development.

 

Job Details:

  • Oversee the design, integration, and testing of propulsion systems, ensuring that all deliverables meet performance specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive the development and implementation of innovative propulsion technologies, with an emphasis on improving system efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
  • Conduct technical reviews, provide expert insights, and guide the team in resolving complex engineering challenges.
  • Contribute to project planning and risk management, identifying technical risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure the successful delivery of propulsion systems.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence within the propulsion systems team.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in propulsion technologies, industry standards, and emerging trends to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Provide specifications and technical inputs to Business Development efforts related to Propulsion Systems.
  • Provide system engineering functional leadership in a fast growing, hardware development engineering team.
  • Conduct trade studies and analyzes for system level architecture decisions.
  • Support architecture development based on customer requirements and internal stakeholder requirements.
  • Interact and facilitate communication between external customers, internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary functional teams.

 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering or technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in propulsion systems design
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams through the full lifecycle of propulsion system development, from conceptual design to testing and delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of propulsion system architecture, integration, electrical, thermal, mechanical, and component considerations.
  • Deep understanding of storable propellants, fluid dynamics, and safety considerations.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on delivering results on tight timelines.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex engineering problems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Ability to work onsite in Durango, Colorado.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Propulsion system testing and performance validation, including hardware-in-the-loop simulations and full-scale testing.
  • Advanced modeling and simulation tools for propulsion system analysis.
  • Experience meeting regulatory compliance and safety standards related to hypergolic propulsion systems, including SSCMAN 91-710.
  • Experience with hypergolic propellant ground services including test, fueling, storage, and transport.
  • Proficiency in JAMA or similar requirement management tools.
  • Experience developing space flight hardware with a comprehensive understanding of space design best practices.
  • Experience with leading teams and working with Government customers.
  • Experience with life cycle management is desired.
  • Clear and concise presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with risk and opportunity management activities and strategies

The salary range for this position is $150,000-$190,000
