Inside the LoB Satellite Systems and Operations Ground Segment and Systems Engineering Unit, we are looking for a System Engineer for the realization of electrical systems for space applications like satellite check-out components and systems, launcher control benches for the integration, test and preparation to launch; special equipment for testing and simulation.

Duties are the requirement analysis, the solution design accordingly, both from a hardware and software perspectives. The selected candidate will lead the development, integration and test until the final system verification and validation.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

• Bid Technical Manager for technical proposals
• Technical Responsible for the design, development, and integration of systems for testing, qualification, and control of flight subsystems for launchers, satellites, and payloads:
  • Design and definition of HW custom parts; during the implementation phase, management of the supply provided by third parties.
  • Selection of COTS components with respect to the system specifications
  • High level definition of SW components; design and specification of the system/subsystem interfaces and related protocols
• Supporting the life-cycle management of the systems in terms of obsolescence management, maintenance, operations, etc.
  • Management of the Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) activities of both custom and COTS parts.
  • Management of the HW/SW integration and test in house and at destination site
  • Operation engineering support during test campaign

Degree and Seniority:

• From 2- up to 8-year experience in similar roles/activities. Senior bachelor/master in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

Knowledge of the some of the following technical competences constitute an asset:

• Industrial automation based on Beckhoff, Siemens, National Instruments technologies
• Design of custom HW elements for the logical management and distribution of low voltage power lines
• Electrical design
• System and Software knowledge of Real-Time Architectures
• System and Software skills about space protocols and interfaces MIL-1553, CAN, HDLC/UART,
• System and Software competences for Instrumentation and Testing control
• Knowledge about CCSDS areas deeply focused on System Engineering area
• Knowledge of tools for Requirements Management, UML modelling, CAD
• Basic competences to address the mechanical, thermal, and Functional Safety (SIL) requirements.

Soft skills:

• Strong leadership in managing technical teams and coordinating processes and documentation in compliance with ESA/CCSDS milestones and releases
• English and French for technical documentation and coordination with international clients, suppliers, and distributed teams
• Availability for business trips, if necessary.
