Position Description: The Buyer ensures that the items and services to build and maintain our advanced products are purchased from specified suppliers and are delivered according to agreed terms and conditions. An important aspect of this role is seeking maximum value for the company through time and cost agreements through expertise with advanced Space parts.
Responsibilities:
- Review procurement requirements, suppliers on-time-arrival performance, while maximizing inventory performance.
- Interact with Engineering, Accounting, Manufacturing, Inventory, Demand Planning and Quality Assurance.
- Support communication with suppliers, obtaining benchmarking prices, managing development of new suppliers and materials.
- Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
- Work with team and supplier to investigate receiving/invoice discrepancies to resolve and eliminate future occurrences.
- Procure materials and components in a timely manner to ensure delivery prior to scheduled production date, with emphasis on meeting target price, quality, quantity, availability, and delivery dates
- Analyzing departmental purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information
- Maintaining and updating records on pricing and ordering of materials
- Reviews planned orders to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications, creates requisitions for purchased items, and assists with approval process.
- Ensures requisitions adhere to supplier agreements and contracts, reports non-conformances.
- Identifies opportunities and implements actions to achieve efficiencies.
- Prepares reports for management for scheduling and budgetary purposes.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Maintain knowledge of all organizational and governmental rules affecting purchases
- Ensure that any invoices are sent to accounts for payment.
- Communicates with Manager when problem/delays occur
- Collect information to set up new vendors (Approve Vendor List) as needed
- Communicate to Parts Team and Managers (PM) about obsolescence on parts (EOL)
Requirements:
- Five (5) or more years of inventory, materials or purchasing procedures experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace
- Experience in team-based organizations on new technologies to create a learning-based organization
- Proficient in ERP/MRP software
- Strong knowledge and experience in Excel
