THE ROLE:

To help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in Boeing EASA Modifications, we are seeking applicants for an Electrical/Avionics Engineer - EASA Modifications Equipment Specialist (Hamburg) (Experienced or Lead) (M/F/D) to join our rapidly expanding, best-in-class team. The successful candidate will analyze, define, and generate the documentation for the certification of complex equipment in large aircraft modifications for our global airline partners to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements and procedures defined in the company’s Design Organization Handbook (DOH).

You will work closely with equipment manufacturers, Office of Airworthiness, and Authorities to ensure guideline understanding, design strategy, and certification.


This role is based in our BGS EASA Modifications site in Hamburg, Germany. Hybrid working options are available. Travel to other sites is expected with occasional international travel.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Electrical/Avionics Engineering Manager and working with the global engineering services team, across multiple time-zones, to identify requirements and their associated solutions for active and upcoming projects.
  • Expert in equipment qualification and contribution to design activities to ensure compliance with design requirements, and address certification and design/integration issues relating to electrical/avionic equipment and systems changes as part of large aircraft modifications.
  • Be a subject-matter expert in at least one electrical area of compliance within part 21G/21J DOA.
  • Having high level experience of part 21G POA and preferably MRO process and regulations, that interface with part 21J DOA, for the purpose of A/C modification.
  • Having extensive experience in the preparation and compilation of engineering documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including:
    • Wiring diagrams.
    • Wire routing installation drawings, and harness fabrication drawings.
    • Service Bulletins/accomplishment instructions.
    • Aircraft and component manual ICA supplements, including wiring diagram manuals, system schematic manuals, and EWIS assessments.
  • Having extensive experience in the preparation compilation of certification documents to demonstrate compliance with relevant electrical systems related airworthiness requirements including:
    • Test plans and reports.
    • Compliance Statements.
    • System Safety, Equipment Qualification, and EWIS documents.
    • Electrical load analysis documents.
    • Compliance checklists.
    • Certification programs.

This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit teammates, customers, and subcontractors.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree within Electrical/Avionics or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum five years relevant experience within an EASA Design Organisation (or equivalent).

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry specifically working with an EASA Part 21G/21J Design Organisation (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS-25, JAR-25, and FAR-25 requirements (relevant to the equipment qualification).
  • Knowledge and experience of aircraft equipment qualifications and/or aircraft integrations.
  • A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and show flexibility to changing situations/demands.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers to embody the core values of the business: Honesty, Integrity and Transparency.
  • Experience navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standards.
  • 7 years relevant experience within an EASA Design Organisation (or equivalent).

Experienced (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).

Lead (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
