Senior Powermill Operator/Programmer

SUMMARY

Come help us build Rockets! Join our team as a Powermill Operator/Programmer, where you’ll generate and maintain Powermill CNC programs working with composite materials. You’ll optimize processes, design fixture tooling, and ensure production goals are met. We’re looking for someone with 5+ years of CNC programming experience and a strong understanding of multi-axis operations. Experience with Siemens CNC controllers and coding skills are a plus. Physical stamina and the ability to work overtime and weekends are required. No previous composites experience required. This position is located in Briggs, TX about 45 minutes north of Cedar Park.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generate and maintain programs and setup sheets in a high mix/low volume environment
• Have familiarity with machining composite materials
• Define and adjust speed and feed parameters for maximum tool life in challenging and high stakes applications
• Make suggestions on drawing changes to improve manufacturability and CNC program strategy
• Design and machine fixture tooling as needed
• Meet expectations for productivity and production goals
• Maintain product flow and alert management when production is impeded or slowed
• Provide feedback and ideas for process improvements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• 5 years of CNC programming and operating experience
• Experience programming 5 axis CNC machines
• Experience programing for a 5 axis milling operation or large format gantry operation
• Broad understanding of robotic kinematics, singularities, and multi-axis motion planning.
• Attention to detail and tolerance for some level of monotony and/or repetition. Optimization of programs will be desired, which may lead to programing many different variations
• Willingness to be hands on with the machine, monitoring the machine response to program will be key to optimization of programs
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
• Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
• Must be available for overtime and weekend hours

Desired

• Experience working with large format operations
• Working knowledge of composite manufacturing operations
• 5 years of CNC programming experience
• Working knowledge of Siemens CNC 840D SL or Sinumerik ONE controllers and drives
• Experience with multi axis mill and lathe CNC machines
• Coding capability in python, macros, Visual Basis, File parsing/editing, excel scripts
