Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Principal Software Architect – 14091. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.
Job Responsibilities:
• Design software-systems, applications, and architectures that implement techniques to support achieving increased modularity, scalability, and reliability, while also maintaining precision, accuracy, and speed to meet performance requirements.
• Perform software architecture audits and design improvement plans.
• Architect new and rearchitect existing design while ensuring industry software engineering best practices and standards are applied and maintained.
• Define architectural patterns for CSCs and CSCIs, and work closely with model governance to get patterns formally approved.
• Showcase high-level, component-based, logical software architecture and low-level, class-based, physical implementation.
• Showcase system behavior (ie. Activity, State Machine, Sequence) for both logical and physical software architecture.
• Mentor junior software engineers in Cameo Enterprise Architect and SOLID software design principles.
• Decompose software into components, taking into consideration the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) Strategy.
• Communicate with the customer and/or stakeholders about software architecture.
• Lead software architecture modeling and provide guidance on modeling best practices, governance, and assistance with CSC model integration.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Principal Software Architect: 5 Years with Bachelors in relevant field of study; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
- Ability to meet customer-specific security screening requirements within a timeframe set forth by management.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite full-time.
- 5+ years of experience working in C/C++.
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience with open software/system architecture solutions.
- 3+ years of proven experience presenting complex topics to management and other stakeholders.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- 5+ years of experience with Git-based or other software configuration management tools.
Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline
- Must have knowledge specific to Sentinel model governance and architecture.
- Experience with Model Based System engineering tools (Cameo Enterprise Architect).
- Experience with UML.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and DevSecOps.
- Experience with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).
- Demonstrated history of compliance with governance resulting in boarded and approved design.

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
