Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to join our team in Woodland Hills, CA
What You'll Get to Do:
· Collaborate in a team environment, negotiate and integrate different viewpoints, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results.
· Perform Table Top Reviews, First Article Inspections and Source inspections on electro-mechanical hardware.
· Capable of working across multiple commodities, at a minimum three of the following commodities: PWB (Printed Wiring Board), Mechanical, Cables and Connectors, RF Modules, as well as Flight Display Unit.
· Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
· Perform QMS (Quality Management System) and Material Authenticity audits with proficiency.
· Perform process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable, as well as compliant to Military and Space requirements.
· Have multiple years of experience develop and mentor new engineers.
· Lead on-site supplier engagements, including multiple people team activities such as supplier quarterly performance reviews and audits.
· Understands continuous process improvement (CI) and can effectively develop and execute CI initiatives and activities.
· Analyze and interpret data to identify suppliers’ process issues and developing solutions, and present to all levels of leaderships.
· Effectively perform supplier surveillance activities designed to manage and improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation.
· Apply technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts to analyze and audit our suppliers’ processes and capabilities.
· Capable of leading cross-functional teams in pursuit of performance improvements aligned to department and organizational goals.
· Mitigate supplier quality risk to prevent/minimize business impact from supplied material defects
· Proactive reduction and prevention of supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims
· Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
· Understands general contracting principles in a Department of Defense and commercial environment
· Establish positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams. Represent the company with credibility, confidence and professionalism.
· Ideal candidate must be able to travel up to 75% of the Time
Basic Qualifications for a Supplier Quality Engineer 4 are:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
· Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in electronics industry.
· Minimum of 8 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Design Engineering and/or 8 years of experience in Continuous Improvement.
· Demonstrated work experience inspecting Printed Wiring Boards.
· Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.
· Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 requirements
· Experience in root cause analysis and corrective action
· Experience in leading teams and projects
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or other Engineering discipline.
· 10+ years working in the defense industry.
· Process knowledge/manufacturing engineering experience in the manufacture of Printed Wiring Boards, mechanical components and cables and connectors.
· Six Sigma or Lean certifications.
· Experience in auditing to ISO 9001 and AS9100, AS9102 requirements.
· J-std-001, IPC600, IPC610, IPC620, IPC6010 series and Mil-Std-883 certification.
· Training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5M)
· ASQ Lead Auditor, CQE, CQM Certification
· Possess current DOD Secret Clearance.
