Are you a seasoned expert in production planning, ready to bring your leadership and MRP experience to help scale our operations? Loft Orbital is seeking a skilled Production Planning Lead to drive key processes that will ensure efficient material planning, scheduling, and production across our operations. In this role, you will help optimize our manufacturing processes while working cross-functionally to meet our growing demand.
As the Production Planning Lead, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and improving our Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. You’ll work across teams—Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Programs—to create and manage production schedules, oversee material procurement, and ensure production efficiency. Your deep expertise will be critical to scaling our production capabilities while maintaining consistency and ensuring material traceability across all programs.

About this Role:
- Lead the development and maintenance of production scheduling and MRP processes, ensuring alignment across all teams.
- Synthesize inputs from cross-functional teams to generate and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) that supports emerging and contractual demands.
- Coordinate workload across multiple programs, ensuring timely release of material requests, and prioritizing based on production needs.
- Support the development and growth of fellow planners, fostering team collaboration and ensuring collective success.
- Manage material demand integrity for components and subassemblies within the ERP system, driving procurement and production schedules.
- Maintain and update MRP system data, ensuring alignment with engineering BOMs and proper account assignment settings for stock items.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues with production schedules, supply chain bottlenecks, or work center capacities.
- Provide regular reports on production efficiency, inventory status, schedule risks, and material forecasts to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Expert proficiency with MS Excel and/or MS Project, with a focus on data collection, analysis, and inventory forecasting.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Inventory Management, and related ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, and the financial impacts of inventory and procurement decisions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Haves:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP, PMI).
- SQL programming skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing and production planning.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance (if applicable).

State law requires us to tell you the base compensation range for this role, which is $100,000 - $130,000 per year which is determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary range for this role is intentionally wide as we evaluate individuals based on their unique experience and abilities to fit our needs.
