Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic EVA Tools and Flight Service Equipment Project Engineer who will primarily be responsible for aiding Axiom’s Space Suit team with the development of life support hardware. We are looking for an individual with a strong technical background who excels at problem solving. The role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on a collaborative team developing Axiom’s Tools and Flight Support Equipment (FSE) lunar and low earth orbit operations. 

  • Apply Project Engineering principles to enable Tools and FSE team delivery assurance, including the following:

    • Manage the programs Schedule, Cost, Risk, and Safety Key performance Metrics. 

    • Requirements Compliance management.

    • Interface control and management.

    • Verification planning, coordination, implementation, and close-out.

  • Plan and perform testing of EVA Tools and FSE components and integrated assemblies. This includes support development and review of specifications, test plans, test reports and operations manuals.

  • Ensure products satisfy requirements and demonstrate performance in a thorough verification and validation program, in alignment with our core value of integrity and demonstrating our competency of ethics.

  • Analyze data and make recommendations for improvement, demonstrating our competency of problem solving.

  • Provide project engineering support to AxEVA Subsystems teams to translate high-level project and system requirements into spaceflight hardware by working with cross-functional teams.

  • Provide project engineering delivery assurance for the design, build, assembly, and delivery of Tools & Flight Service Equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field required.

  • 4-10 years’ experience in tools and flight support equipment project engineering, or similar role.

  • Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) preferred.

  • Proficient in CAD/CAE environments, preferably with SolidWorks preferred.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, JIRA, and/or Costpoint preferred.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with experience communicating to senior decision-makers and technical audiences.

  • Ability to work in a small team environment with broad responsibilities and minimal oversight.

  • Certification as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
