Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Director of Integration, Test and Launch (IT&L) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, CA.

As the Director of IT&L, you will lead a team of ~500 personnel, and growing, and provide leadership, day to day people management, supervisory responsibilities. The IT&L directorate is responsible for all integration and test activities as well as launch support for all space programs within SSSD.

In this role, the selected candidate will:

  • Provide leadership, shape strategic vision and direction, as well as provide oversight of all major functions within IT&L

  • Responsible for long range strategic planning and all aspects of functional homeroom performance, including performance management

  • Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support divisions and programs achieve their missions

  • Oversee program/project reviews, Independent Research and Development (IRAD) and process improvement plans, proposal review and signoff, and capital planning and management

  • Work across all NG Space Sector Production and I&T teams to implement best practices and help drive cost effective solutions to sector-wide issues and initiatives.

  • Maintain a focus on safety. Assure our teams have the proper equipment, training, and culture to prevent injury.

  • Influence design and verification methodologies across SSSD to help assure our future programs are baselined with production in mind

  • Support special assignments including proposal support, independent technical reviews, program standup reviews, technical audits

  • Ability to work well with a team and possess excellent written and oral communication skills including experience with executive reviews and presentations

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading development programs, including hardware and software verification, validation, test evaluation and activation of systems. You will possess exceptional communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation – effective across all organizational levels. This role also requires extensive experience in managing large teams, ensuring alignment with leadership, division, sector and corporate objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace or systems engineering with 10 years of experience within the space and defense industry

  • Test experience, including a minimum of 8 years management experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the space industry, coupled with specialized expertise in integration and test 

  • Proven ability to lead a high performing team with evidence of being able to create an inclusive work environment that attracts retains and inspires diverse engaged teams, proven ability to successfully work across multiple organizations toward common goals

  • Demonstrated ability to create, facilitate and increase innovation to affect affordability

  • Active in-scope DOD Secret and the ability to obtain DoD Top Secret and SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active in-scope DoD Top Secret and SCI clearance

Salary Range: $197,600.00 - $296,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
