Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Principal Strategic Planner to join the Sector Strategic Development organization, reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Investment Planning. The selected applicant will become a trusted member of a team responsible for leading Sector-level strategy, investment planning, and associated efforts.
In this job, you will:
- Collaborate with division strategy leads to understand their businesses, future plans, and investment needs.
- Partner with NGSP Chief Technology Office, division and business unit teams to develop and recommend specific strategic internal investments leveraging robust supporting data and financial analyses.
- Work with sector strategic planning and technology planning leads to comprehend the NGSP’s strategic objectives and the associated capability needs and gaps, then develop investment plans to close those gaps.
- Develop and continuously refine the sector’s integrated strategic internal investments, including cross-division internal research and development (IR&D) and capital expenditures (capex) in support of NGSP strategy, priorities, and objectives.
- Communicate NGSP internal investments strategy to multiple stakeholders, including corporate, sector, and division executive leadership through presentations and briefings.
- Conduct strategic assessments of current financial plans, manage internal investments budgets and support investment reviews to advance the development and refinement of the sector’s Long-Range Strategic Plan (LRSP).
- Lead all investment management support activities and collaboration with cross-functional teams to execute critical supporting strategy and business management functions.
- Support in the cross-functional development of digital transformations tools to support future investment planning and execution.
Candidate Profile: - A self-starter with significant financial analysis and subject matter expertise who is curious, diligent, and thoughtful. Candidate must be highly collaborative, outcome-oriented, and able to communicate effectively, and demonstrated leadership ability.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3+ years of professional experience
- 2 years minimum of previous experience in strategic assessment, strategy development, and/or financial analysis
- 2 years minimum Proven experience creating executive-level briefing and presentation content. Advanced MS PowerPoint and Excel skills
- Excellent oral/written communication, presentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Experience working with cross functional teams
- Familiarity with space industry trends, dynamics, and characteristics
- Must be able to obtain a secret clearance at time of application
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in strategic planning, portfolio development, and/or strategic assessment
- Experience in strategic planning at an aerospace and defense industry enterprise
- Northrop Grumman internal long-range strategic planning or portfolio development experience
- Current Top Secret clearance and/or current SSBI/SCI at time of application
