Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support the National Team – System Engineering (NT-S) program. Position Overview:

  

The selected Principal Systems Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the NT-S program as an individual contributor/task lead on the Integrated Discrimination Team & MDA Joint Analysis Team (JAT) via support to the DE/System Test and Performance Analysis (SEP) organization. This role is responsible for developing systems engineering products that directly support the Missile Defense System test program on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Essential Functions:  

  • In this role the candidate will have both analysis and analysis tool development responsibilities.
  • The role includes performing detailed analysis of test data created primarily by the MDA’s Ground Test (HWIL) program with the possibility of supporting SEP’s Flight Test and Real-World Event analysis teams.
  • The candidate will be responsible for performing detailed analysis, developing and maintaining analysis tools supporting those efforts and contributing to SEP analysis products, such as Mission Data Review.
  • Presentation of analysis results on behalf of SEP is a strong possibility.
  • SEP performs analysis on all elements of the Missile Defense System (MDS) with a focus on System-Level behaviors.
  • The position is in Huntsville, AL and is located on a customer site at the Boeing Jetplex facility.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Experience analyzing datasets and identifying underlying causes for trends in data.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in data scientist positions and the ability to develop tools to support analytical tasks and a desire to learn MDS analysis.
  • The candidate must be a quick study and willing to learn about MDS elements behaviors as they pertain to threat acquisition and tracking and engagement planning and the ability to apply an understanding of element behavior to a System-Level analytical perspective.
  • The candidate will learn to analyze the MDS kill chain.
  • The candidate will be capable of developing and presenting reports summarizing analytical findings.
  • Ability and willingness to work on a customer site.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with a strong working knowledge of Python, Jupyter Notebooks, Tableau, Alteryx is desired.
  • Experience with SQL and/or PostgreSQL is also desired.
  • Experience working with MDA ground test data including test design and data collection.
  • Experience analyzing MDS kill chain including radar acquisition, tracking, and discrimination; battle manager engagement planning, warfighter interaction, and engagement coordination.

Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
