Description
Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. As Design Reliability Engineer at Stoke, you will be a key player in the integration of teams and products across all areas of the launch system. You will work closely with engineers from various disciplines through all phases of the product lifecycle. You will facilitate cross-disciplinary action and problem solving. You will work to define requirements and interfaces, challenge or eliminate unnecessary requirements, and track the product’s ability to meet its requirements. You will define processes and tools to standardize engineering processes, improve communication, and achieve a high-quality product at a rapid pace. You must be organized, a good communicator, and excellent at identifying and solving problems related to the integration of complex systems. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.
Responsibilities
- Develop requirements, design criteria, and verification approaches, and track performance to requirements throughout the development lifecycle
- Facilitate communication between teams, negotiate interfaces, and identify and manage interdisciplinary design risks
- Drive improvements to vehicle design by being closely integrated with hardware teams and providing peer review throughout the design, manufacturing, and test lifecycle
- Set up new engineering processes to improve quality and speed up product development
- Perform engineering analysis to trade and down select competing system architectures
- Develop specialized design and analysis tools for other engineering groups
Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience in an engineering role on a complex product requiring high performance, well-coordinated interfaces, and a rapid development process
- Proficiency working with interdisciplinary technical teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
- Command of engineering fundamentals in multiple disciplines (mechanical, propulsion/fluids, electrical, and/or software engineering)
- Attention to detail

- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or similar
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience working on one or more development projects through the full lifecycle, from concept through operations, on an aerospace or similar high-performance product
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, with the ability to apply that knowledge in practical ways to a fast-paced development program
- Familiarity with system safety analyses such as Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) or Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA)
- Experience with orbital launch vehicle operations
- Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or similar

Compensation
Target Levels:
- Level 2 Range: $104,500 - $141,400
- Level 3 Range: $123,000 - $184,400
- Level 4 Range: $144,100 - $240,100
