We are building artificial gravity space stations, allowing long-term stays in space without the adverse effects of zero-gravity. Our initial crewed space habitat will be Haven-1, scheduled to be the world’s first commercial space station when it launches into low earth orbit in August 2025. Our team is all-in, committed to executing our mission safely and on time. If you want to work with the most talented people on Earth furthering space exploration for humanity, come join us.

Vast is looking for a Senior Technical Writer, reporting to the VP, Haven-2 Engineering, to lead our technical writing efforts as part of the Haven-2 design for the NASA Commercial LEO Destinations (CLD) proposal.

Your expertise in managing documentation timelines, formatting, and developing streamlined processes will be instrumental in supporting sales and business development efforts and maintaining clear communication with our customers.

About You:
You have a passion for translating complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate content. You thrive at the intersection of technical detail and effective communication, leveraging your experience to craft documentation that meets the needs of technical and non-technical audiences alike. You are highly organized, proactive, and adept at managing schedules and stakeholders to meet tight deadlines. You enjoy creating efficient processes and tools to streamline documentation efforts, reducing the workload required for incremental updates. Your collaborative nature and ability to work through ambiguity make you an asset to teams tackling time-sensitive, high-impact projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, writing, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing or a related field.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in the space or aerospace industry, with an understanding of space-related technical standards.
  • Familiarity working with government customers, including NASA, ESA, the Department of Defense, or similar organizations.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous requirements and deliver results in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience creating content for technical audiences, including pre-sales (proposals) and post-sales (customer/public documentation).
  • Hands-on involvement in proposal writing or supporting pre-sales efforts from a technical writing perspective.
