Job Overview & Responsibilities

ULA is looking for an NDT Level II certified Ultrasonic (UT) and Dye Penetrant inspector. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reading, interpreting and applying NDT specifications and procedures.
  • Helping support the build of the next generation of ULA rocket.
  • Traveling to ULA launch sites in Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg, along with supplier locations.
  • Working Day Shift-Weekends (6:00am-6:30pm Friday-Sunday)

High School/GED

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 2 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Two (2) years experience in NDT.
  • Must have experience as an NDT Level II inspector in Ultrasonics (UT).
  • Must have experience with Dye Penetrant.
  • Must have or be able to obtain NDT certifications in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A, CP-189 or NAS-410.
  • Must be capable of reading, interpreting and applying NDT specifications and procedures.
  • Must be able to work 6:00 AM- 6:30PM Friday-Sunday. Training will take place on Monday – Friday, 1st shift.
  • Must be willing to work weekends or extended hours as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and handle hardware and components up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to climb, stoop or crawl as part of normal inspection duties.
  • Must be willing to be fitted and wear a full-face respirator.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • This position is represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM). Terms and conditions of employment are defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade school NDT certification
  • NDT Level II Eddy Current inspection a plus.
  • Three (3) years minimum documented experience and training as certified NDT Level II inspector in Radiography, Ultrasonics, Dye Penetrant and Eddy Current.
  • Preference will also be given to prior experience in any of the following: Digital Radiography of weldments, or phased array ultrasonic (PAUT) inspections.
  • Two (2) years college training in general science, mathematics, nondestructive testing or computer studies.
  • Prior ULA, Lockheed, Boeing NDT Level II certifications in Radiography, Dye Penetrant, Ultrasonics or Eddy Current inspection methods.
  • Capable of reading engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Associates Degree in Aerospace Technology, Welding or Nondestructive testing.
  • Associate Degree/Trade School diploma or certificate in Manufacturing Technology or Nondestructive testing.
