Job description
Duties
- Provide technical and administrative direction to subordinate employees performing the aircraft electrical, avionics, and research instrumentation systems work and functions of the organization.
- Define technical work requirements and milestones, direct on-the-job training, and evaluate the organization or employee accomplishments by accepting or rejecting work products. Present and defend organization and employee work to senior management.
- Recommend employee promotions and recognition, approve leave, implement performance modifications, and take corrective actions as appropriate. Define jobs, select employees, and assign work.
- Analyze and develop new maintenance, repair, and modification techniques applicable to maintenance operations for all aircraft assigned to AFRC. Address program changes, technological developments, unpredictable events and conflicting requirements.
- Conduct reviews of new and proposed modifications to existing aircraft, facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and FAA requirements.
- Perform safety duties such as conducting technical investigations and calculations in the analysis of aircraft, facilities, ground support equipment, and operations using NASA and Federal Aviation Agency safety principles, methods, and practices.
- Serve as a Technical Monitor (TM) and liaison of contractor Avionics Technician and the Contracting Officer's Representative. Monitor performance/delivery of the final products or services under the contract to assure compliance with the contract.
- Assist the development of the Flight Operations Directorate and Armstrong Flight Research Center's (AFRC) programmatic goals, objectives, and future programs. Evaluate Branch's requirements for future facilities, equipment, and personnel manning.
- Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

To be eligible, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in a position no more than 1 grade lower than the advertised position.
