We’re on the hunt for a Vibration test Professional on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.

Position Description:

We are seeking dedicated Vibration test Professionals to oversee structural dynamic testing (vibration, shock, acoustic) ensuring seamless communication and execution between manufacturing, test facility staff and structural engineering. This role requires strong technical background in vibration testing and good communication skills to facilitate collaboration across the teams thus ensuring efficiency and compliance with testing procedures and standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between manufacturing technologists, test technicians and structural analysts to ensure that the units under test as well as their test set-ups and instrumentations (accelerometers, load cells, etc.) are efficiently integrated for test execution.
  • Create or review test procedures to ensure that the vibration tests can be executed efficiently and correctly with respect to the internal standards as well as customer & industry standards.
  • Make sure tests are performed safely for the personnel and equipment notably be ensuring that check lists are followed and filled.
  • Execute tests or provide guidance to structural analysts for the correct execution of tests.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues or bottlenecks during testing.
  • Document & report lessons learned to the organization.
  • Ensure the shaker and test equipment perform correctly.
  • Recommend and implement process ameliorations in a “continuous improvement” mindset.
  • Ensure TNRs gets raised when necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in vibration testing or in structural analyses with good experience in vibration testing.
  • Proficiency in test result interpretation and data analysis preferably with Siemens Simcenter Testlab software.
  • Completed bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis, preferably with Nx / Nastran.

  • Good communication skills

 

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of composites, fatigue and structural testing are assets.
  • Demonstrated academic performance (GPA above 3.2 / 4.0).
  • Bilingualism

 

Work environment:

  • Mix of office, lab, and manufacturing environments.
  • The dynamic teamwork environment involves some availability outside typical office hours.

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
