Duties
- Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
- Participate on teams of facilities professionals through all stages of planning, design, and construction.
- Partner with customer to gather their requirements and ensure they meet construction codes and NASA standards, and recommend facilities solutions.
- Participate in the development of drawings, specifications, and establish estimates that will be used by contractors to solicit bids for execution of construction.
- Collaborate with customers on schedule, and cost of design and construction tasks executed by support contractor.
- Provide consultation and guidance on the topic of interior renovations and building envelop.

Qualifications
To qualify for GS-09, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level:
- Preparing conventional plans, designs, design specifications, or related documentation for architectural projects
- Assisting in facility design, planning or construction activities for routine projects or a portion of a larger and more complex project
b) Completed all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 2 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field
OR
d) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b) and c) above
OR
e) Expect to complete at least one of the education degree requirements for this grade level by June 1, 2025
To qualify for GS-11, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level
- Performing work supporting conventional building design, renovation or maintenance projects
- Preparing conventional plans, designs, design specifications, or related documentation for architectural or construction projects
- Assisting with project management tasks to complete established objectives
b) Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
OR
c) Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field
OR
d) Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b) and c) above
OR
e) Registered to practice architecture by one of the State registration boards, using standards in compliance with the basic minimum provisions recommended by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
OR
f) Expect to complete at least one of the education degree requirements for this grade level by June 1, 2025
To qualify for GS-12, you must have:
a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:
- Performing facilities design, planning or construction activities including preparing or evaluating plans, designs, or reports
- Utilizing engineering, planning, or design methods to fulfill project objectives related to architecture
- Assisting with project management tasks to complete established objectives
Education
Basic Requirement:
You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree with a major in architecture or in a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least:
- 30 semester hours were in architectural design, AND
- 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
Have a combination of education and experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished;
- A thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and
- A good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings.
