Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is currently seeking an Electronics/Controls Technician with DCS and/or PLC programming experience to join our team.  This position will be supporting Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located in Magna (Bacchus), Utah.

 Roles and Responsibilities:

This position will be an integral part of our Controls team, responsible for performing field service and assisting the design, start-up, and troubleshooting of the Foxboro Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Job duties include but are not limited to:   

  • Maintenance, troubleshooting and assist with repair of existing instrumentation and control systems

  • Support of solid rocket propellant mixing and casting manufacturing operations (occasional off-shift support required)

  • Read and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams and wiring diagrams

  • Read and interpret technical instructions and specifications

  • Troubleshoot and modify existing DCS and PLC code and HMI screens

  • Design and maintenance of new control systems

  • Ability to work independently and on a team

This position can be filled at either a level 03 or level 04.

Basic Qualifications for a level 03:

Education and Experience:

  • High School degree plus 4 years of related experience.
  • Associates degree in Electronics, or related technology degree and 2 years of related experience is preferred.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong background in DCS and/or PLC controls systems

  • Electrical and/or electronics troubleshooting skills

  • Possess and apply hands on mechanical skills

  • Read and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams and wiring diagrams

  • Read and interpret technical instructions and specifications

  • Proficiency with multimeter and other electronic test equipment

  • Proficiency with hand tools

  • Foundational skills in networking technologies

  • Proficient in Microsoft operating systems and Office

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent customer skills

  • The ability to work independently, as well as, on a team.

  • Able to acquire and maintain Employee Possessor (EP) status under the Safe Explosives Act (SEA).

  • Must be able to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Bacchus Mix/Cast manufacturing operations

  • Previous manufacturing or plant experience in automation

  • Networking - TCP/IP, Lan, Wan, Vlans Routing

  • Microsoft – SQL, Access, Excel

Salary Range: $55,800.00 - $93,000.00Salary Range 2: $66,300.00 - $110,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
