Intern, Electrical Ground Support Engineering

Maxar Space, in Palo Alto, CA is currently seeking a motivated engineering student to join our EGSE Engineering Team as a 2025 summer intern. EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) engineering is comprised of various roles that contribute to the development, production, and test of satellites in AIT (Assembly, Integration and Test).  Interns at Maxar Space have the opportunity to gain valuable skills and mentorship by working along-side industry-leading experts on real missions. 

As an intern on the EGSE team your responsibilities will include:

• Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to support the development of test equipment that will be used for testing satellite electronic and RF units
• Being part of an engineering team specializing in test equipment, otherwise called electrical ground support equipment (EGSE)
• Participating in the design and manufacturing of electrical/RF test equipment and cable harnesses
• Participating in design documentation such as diagrams, assembly drawings, analysis, and test procedures
• Supporting procurement, manufacturing, and validation of test equipment
• Troubleshooting electrical issues with EGSE equipment during integration and testing.

Minimum requirements: 

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident 
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with completion of 2 years or more or currently enrolled in a master's degree program in electrical, electronics, aerospace, mechanical design, materials, or industrial engineering or related discipline. 

These skills would be amazing: 

• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and leadership skills 
• Ability to work in a collaborative team
• Hands-on experience in electronic and/or RF design
• Visio and Microsoft office suite.
• Skills in printed circuit board (PCB) design
• Interest in laboratory work
• Debugging and trouble-shooting skills
• Knowledge of Python or VBA.
• Knowledge of microcomputers (Raspberry Pi / Arduino)

The salary range listed is based on two years of completed studies.  This range will vary based on the number of years of experience and work location.
