Prototype Designer

We are looking for an experienced Prototype Designer.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to understand design challenges and help provide solutions

• Translating engineering data to buildable scale or full-size mockups

• Developing functional prototypes and test hardware

• Creating and manipulating CAD models, assemblies, and schematics

• Working with complex engineering requirements

• Using hand tools, power tools, and machines to fabricate components

• Fabricating products from a variety of raw materials, including wood, metal, composites, and plastic

• Lifting and moving heavy objects and materials

• Adhering to safety guidelines and shop protocols

• Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Technical certification or degree in Design, Engineering, or related discipline

• Experience in Solidworks, Rhino, or other CAD software

• Ability to create schematics and assembly drawings

• Knowledge of materials, fasteners, and manufacturing processes

• Safe operation of hand and power tools

• Rapid Prototyping

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Careful attention to detail

• Strong presentation skills

• Knowledge of CAM software such as Mastercam or VCarve is a plus

• Operation of 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, CNC Routers, Mills, and Lathes is a plus

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements 

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

• Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
