The Position

We’re on the hunt for a DevOps Software Engineer/Member of Technical Staff on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.

As our DevOps Software Engineer/Member of Technical Staff, you will be instrumental in accelerating our software teams to deliver high quality software solutions faster than ever before. Leveraging the capabilities of our engineering IT organization, you will build standardized build, test, and deployment environments for our software teams incorporating automation to achieve continuous integration, code standards compliance, requirements/test traceability and more!

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create standardized development environments for projects integrating:
    • Build tools (e.g. CMake, Bazel, Pants, etc.)
    • Automated testing tools and frameworks for multiple languages and levels of testing (e.g. dotnet-coverage, Selenium, Cucumber, Google Test, etc.)
    • Automated linting/formatting tools (e.g. Clang-tidy, Clang-format, etc.)
    • Requirements definition/tracking tools (e.g. PTC ILM, DOORS, Jira, etc.)
    • Test reporting to PTC ILM
    • Code metrics and reporting tools (e.g. SonarQube)
    • Continuous integration tools (e.g. Jenkins)
    • Artifact Repositories (e.g. Nexus, Artifactory, etc.)
    • Monitoring Tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
    • Containerization of Linux/Windows applications (Docker)
  • Support software development teams to improve/standardize their build and test environments.
  • Collaborate with other senior engineers and management on establishment, evolution, and enforcement of standards for coding, tools/environments, processes, etc.
  • Other duties as will be assigned from time to time by management.

  • Proven ability/experience implementing/maintaining build systems.

  • Proven ability/experience implementing/maintaining software development automation.

  • Strong scripting skills in relevant languages such as Python
  • Bachelor’s degree in software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and a positive thinker
  • Interested in finding scalable, long-term solutions which can be used across multiple programs

Beneficial Skills/Experience

  • Deploying and maintaining Kubernetes environments
  • C/C++, C#, Javascript, Angular
  • Test driven development (TDD, ATDD, BDD)
  • Embedded/RTOS development – VxWorks, RTX64, etc.
  • Web development
  • Robotic arm control
  • Communications interfaces (TCP/IP, PCI, 1553, I2C, RS232, RS422, EtherCat, CANOpen, etc.)
  • Familiar with Agile or SAFe practices

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

The compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
