Duties
The Chief Systems Engineering and Architecture Division:
- Manages and performs essential complex project engineering leadership, systems engineering, systems analysis and architecture development, software and advanced computational engineering to ensure successful development and integration of payloads, aerospace vehicles, and spacecraft, and delivery of aerospace systems level research.
- Leads the Division to assure NASA-approved practices are exercised in the development of mission systems.
- Provides overall management of planning, coordinating, and evaluating the work of the Division.
- Leads the development of innovative design and analysis tools, techniques, and capabilities to maintain and enhance the Center's leadership in systems engineering, analysis and architecture.
- Provides management oversight of tasks in the programmatic and organizational area. Includes areas related to human resources management such as selection of employees, assignment of duties, evaluation of employee performance, planning of employee training, and recommendation of awards, promotions, and other personnel actions.
- Provides budgetary oversight of areas of responsibility within the Division including advocating for resources to ensure strong technical capability in strategic areas consistent with the Center's roles and mission.
- Serves as chair or member of various Agency and/or Center boards, panels, working groups, and/or committees, as needed or requested.
- Fosters and continually drives a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence, and innovation within and outside of the organization and NASA. - The individual selected will be required to file an 'Executive Branch Personnel Financial Disclosure Report' (OGE-278) in accordance with the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.
- Initial Senior Executive Service (SES) Career appointee is subject to a one-year probationary period.
- Successful completion of a background investigation commensurate with the risk and sensitivity level of the position.
- Successful completion of pre-employment and random drug testing may be required.
- Must meet qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
MTQ 1- Demonstrated experience in leadership of organizations involved in systems engineering including areas such as complex project engineering, systems analysis and architecture development, software and advanced computational engineering to ensure successful development and integration of payloads, aerospace vehicles, and spacecraft, and delivery of aerospace systems level research.
MTQ 2- Demonstrated experience in leading, directing, and/or managing a multidisciplinary research and engineering organization, including development and advocacy for new programs/projects and working with multiple stakeholders.
Education
This position has a positive education requirement. To be eligible, you must clearly state in your resume the following: degree, major and/or minor, and college/university.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in engineering, physical science, mathematics, life sciences, computer science, or other field of science.
