Summary
We have a current opportunity for an Aerospace Engineer, Associate located in San Jose, CA. In this role you will be part of a development team to design and implement new systems and features, as well as modify and maintain existing systems. The engineer engages directly with management, development teams, AI&T teams, and vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of technology-based solutions. The successful candidate shall have experience implementing digital engineering processes and procedures in the areas of design, development, and analysis for space applications. The applicant will be expected to provide full life cycle (requirements, design, development, and test) engineering for space and ground systems and assist with developing and maintaining build processes for these systems. This will include developing system architectures for Ground and Space segments as well as collaborating and integrating with multiple subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Provides systems engineering support of space-based programs to ensure delivery of the completed space system(s).
- Supports the formulation of ground and flight projects by working closely with Project Managers, Technology Development Managers, and Chief Engineers in defining the technical scope of work and the project lifecycle.
- Applies basic knowledge of how products are conceptualized, optimized, designed, manufactured, assembled, integrated, verified, validated, and transitioned to the next level of the system.
- Utilizes digital engineering approaches and tools, such as Model Based Systems Engineering, to implement systems engineering activities.
- Research’s, designs, develops guidance and control subsystems for spacecraft.
- Plans and conducts experimental, environmental, operational and stress tests on models and prototypes of aerospace systems and equipment.
- Participates in evaluation of product data and designs from inspections and reports for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Participates in reviews of non-conformance reports and documentation.
- Participating in investigating and resolving technical problems.
- Develops and maintains system configuration documentation.
- Some limited travel may be required.
Ideal Experience
- Bachelor's degree with major in Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science, or other field of physical science with 0-2 years’ experience.
- Experience with MATLAB and ADCS modeling and analysis tools.
- Previous experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CREO, AutoCAD.
- Experience with thermal analysis tools such as thermal desktop.
- Experience with orbit modeling and analysis tools such as STK.
- Ability to obtain government security clearance.
Desired Skills
- Ability to provide in-depth evaluation and analysis of unique complex technological issues.
- Familiarity with attitude control algorithm development.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information in a design review, or technical interchange meeting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
