Job description

a.i. solutions is seeking a Senior Ground System Architect to lead and support multiple ground system development activities across NASA, NOAA, USSF, and commercial programs. The position plays a direct and integral role in the design, development, integration, and testing of all aspects of the ground system. This requires organization, drive, and charisma to coordinate efforts across company and program leadership, technical team members, and peers. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission and work to continually exceed the expectations of our customers.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Identify suitable technologies for ground system capabilities based on customer and mission requirements.
  • Assess hardware and software needed to implement flight dynamics, mission planning, spacecraft commanding, telemetry trending, spacecraft and network communications, and mission data storage capabilities within a ground system.
  • Perform ground system design including hardware and software across on premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Estimate schedule and staffing required for ground system development, integration, and testing.
  • Assist in systems engineering activities required for integration and testing.
  • Assist in estimating staffing requirements for mission operations informed by ground system autonomy.
  • Monitor ground system performance in operations to quickly identify issues or opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage effective communications between customer, team, peers, and division leadership.
  • Identify new technologies and applicability to spacecraft and mission ground systems.
  • Participate in corporate initiatives and business development, opportunity capture, and/or proposal generation efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective technical writing ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Experience with leadership of technical projects or programs
  • Obtain successful completion of a government background check

    Desired Skills:

    • Experience with mission operations and software development processes.
    • Experience with cloud services providers such as AWS and Azure.
    • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment processes.
    • Experience integrating across multiple operating systems including Linux and Windows.
    • Ability to quickly connect in-person and in writing, and to actively listen and perceive the needs, values, or opinions of others.
    • Demonstrated leadership accomplishments professionally and personally.
    • Proactivity in identifying and addressing challenges to include innovations that result in positive organizational impact.
