Summary
 
The Director of Business Development (BD) for Solar Power Products, reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Business Development for our Power Offerings group and is responsible for driving business growth in our Solar Array product line. The BD Director provides strategic input to proposed product offerings, product/technology roadmaps, and product marketing based on insights gained from market research, market trends, customer pull, and competitive intelligence. In this role, the BD Director will collaborate with the technical, programmatic, and cost analysts within the Power Offerings Group, with other BU leaders, and Redwire Corporate to win bookings that fulfill our overall Redwire booking and revenue objectives. To achieve these goals, the BD Director will be responsible for managing and tracking leads using Salesforce in close partnership with the Redwire corporate marketing and business development organizations, collaborating on Corporate wide pursuit strategies, presenting bid & proposal presentations to corporate leaders, and developing customer relationships through regular follow-up and industry wide conferences and events.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead a product segment of the Solar Power business development organization with responsibility to grow its annual orders to >$100M
  • Be an authority on Solar Power market needs, size, and opportunities
  • Develop and nurture a Solar Power opportunity pipeline
  • Foster close solar power customer and partner relationships
  • Ensure Solar Power pursuits are effectively communicated to all business unit stakeholders including GM, program management, finance, contracts, manufacturing, HR and QA
  • Manage Solar Power BD/B&P budgets
  • Ensure that the quarterly and yearly Solar Power new orders targets are met
  • Create, maintain, and present the Solar Power orders forecast
  • Support technical team to create, maintain, and evangelize the Solar Power product and technology roadmaps
  • Create new business leads
  • Lead the bid and proposal strategy to close new business opportunities
  • Manage bid and proposal staff
  • Collaborate with corporate BD personnel, marketing, and government relations staff
IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Aerospace field
  • Minimum of 15 years direct / related deployable space Solar Power experience
  • Demonstrated spacecraft and/or deployable systems thought leader through invention (patents), publications, and/or demonstrable experience architecting advanced deployable products through flight hardware delivery
  • Deployable space Solar Power engineering experience leading to flight hardware
  • Ability to quickly and reliably size and trade deployable space power solutions
  • High energy, self-motivated with a solid work ethic and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communicator with strong oral, public speaking, writing, and PowerPoint skills
  • Collaborative, positive, team player with a willingness to jump in and support our team members as needed
  • Experience managing people through a bid and proposal process
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR Regulations
DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Graduate degree in: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related Aerospace field, or Business Management/Administration
  • Successful track record of leading the closing of space opportunities >$10M
  • Current and active TS/SCI government security clearance
  • Direct experience working in the National Security Space, Civil Space, and Commercial Space sectors
  • Demonstrated successful performance leading business development, capture, and proposal teams to win large space related opportunities, while developing and enabling pipeline designed for aggressive growth
  • CAD software experience Proficient in SalesForce

Pay Range
$185,000 - $225,000/yr.

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy)
Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.  For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth.  Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
