Who We Are:
We are a young, hypersonic transportation company focused on doing what people once thought was impossible. We are a tech haven for engineers with vision who want more than just a job. And, we have a place for you if you want to be part of creating flight vehicles that transform how people and nations connect. We are looking for highly motivated and passionate individuals who want to push the boundaries of high-speed air transportation and work on exciting engine technologies that will propel the future of air transportation.

The Role: Principal Structural Engineer
In this position, you will play a key role in the advanced vehicle design group at Venus Aerospace. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be the go-to person for the clean sheet design of the aircraft structural system for one or more vehicles.  Our ideal candidate has direct experience designing primary structure for multiple fixed-wing, high-performance vehicles especially hypersonic vehicles.

  • Work with aerodynamic and propulsion colleagues to develop load environments to guide structural design requirements.
  • Provide detailed product definition to other engineering groups, production, and suppliers.
  • Utilize analysis models to estimate static and dynamic loads on structural systems and ensure safety factors are met.
  • Develop test requirements for tests to validate systems and components capabilities.
  • Contribute to the development of system requirements that impact structures sub-systems.

What you Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • 10+ years designing aircraft primary structures.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software to design and model large assemblies.
  • Ability to meet ITAR requirements.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Experience in the design and development of fixed-wing aircraft, especially high-speed aircraft.
  • Experience working through multiple design cycles, preferably different vehicle concepts.
  • Experience using FEM or related simulation software to analyze stress and strain.
  • Advanced degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
Benefits of working with Venus:
Venus Aerospace employee benefits include a 401(k) plan, stock options, and medical benefits, including dental and vision. We have a flex-Friday flexible schedule, unlimited PTO, and receive professional development opportunities.

Location:
This role is based on-site at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas. We will consider a remote option.
