Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) and now expanding into Tulsa, OK. Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Program Management to join our team and lead the management of our growing portfolio of rocket engine development programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing complex aerospace programs, driving project execution, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products on time and within budget. This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer and manages a team of Project Management professionals.
Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction and vision for the overall program portfolio, aligning with the company's mission and objectives.
- Champion a culture of accountability, empowerment, ingenuity and pride within the program management team and across program teams.
- Foster collaboration and cross-functional communication to ensure seamless coordination and integration of program activities.
Team Management:
- Recruit, develop, and retain top talent within the program management team, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to program managers and project teams, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
- Promote a positive work environment characterized by trust, respect, and accountability.
Program Planning and Execution:
- Develop and maintain a framework for comprehensive program plans, defining clear objectives, milestones, and deliverables for each phase of the program lifecycle.
- Establish robust processes and systems for program execution, monitoring progress against plans, and taking corrective actions as needed.
- Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous programs to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Risk Management:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for each program, identifying potential threats and developing mitigation strategies to address them.
- Foster a proactive approach to risk management, encouraging team members to identify and escalate issues early for timely resolution.
- Monitor risk mitigation measures and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure program success and minimize impact on schedule and budget.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for program stakeholders, including customers, executives, partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Communicate program status, key milestones, and performance metrics in a clear and concise manner, tailored to the needs of each audience.
- Facilitate regular meetings and reviews to provide updates, gather feedback, and address concerns or issues raised by stakeholders.
Resource Management:
- Optimize resource allocation across programs to maximize efficiency and achieve strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with functional leaders to ensure adequate staffing levels and skill sets are available to support program needs.
- Monitor resource utilization and identify opportunities to reallocate or reprioritize resources as needed to address emerging priorities or challenges.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and enforce rigorous quality standards and processes throughout the program lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.
- Conduct regular reviews and audits to assess program performance against quality metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Champion a culture of quality excellence, encouraging continuous learning and innovation to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Contract Management:
- Lead contract negotiations and ensure alignment with program objectives, scope, and deliverables.
- Monitor contract performance and compliance, proactively addressing any deviations or issues that may impact program execution or customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to resolve contract disputes and implement contract modifications as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in program management within the aerospace industry, with a focus on rocket engine development.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a portfolio of programs from concept to delivery.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with program management tools and methodologies, such as Earned Value Management (EVM) and Agile.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- PMP or similar certification is a plus.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000
