Position Description 

 

Voyager Space Exploration is seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead and oversee the innovation, development, and management of our product strategies. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the aerospace industry, advanced product management trends, and a proven track record of successful product management and implementation. This position is also responsible for winning funding from external sources to develop technology into new product lines, and to generate profit from the execution of externally funded projects. 

 

Essential Duties 

 

Product Strategy and Development 

  1. Develop and implement the company's product strategy to support business goals.
  2. Lead and inspire the product management team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  3. Oversee the development and execution of product projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  4. Responsible for maintaining a technology roadmap or development pipeline in coordination with the Product Manager

 

Market Analysis and Research 

  1. Collaborate with executive leadership to define and prioritize innovation initiatives.
  2. Monitor and analyze market and industry trends to ensure the company remains competitive.
  3. Identify and evaluate new product opportunities and their potential impact on the company/industry.

 

Innovation and Improvement 

  1. Drive innovation within the organization by encouraging the exploration of new ideas and technologies.
  2. Lead research and development efforts to create cutting-edge solutions for our customers.
  3. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the product management team.

 

Collaboration and Communication 

  1. Work closely with other departments to ensure product initiatives align with business objectives.
  2. Communicate product strategy and progress to stakeholders, including the board of directors and investors.
  3. Foster strong relationships with customers, partners, and other external stakeholders.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team by fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence, ensuring effective communication and coordination within the organization.
  • Ensures effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention of multiple teams.

 

Competencies 

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in engineering, systems engineering or science required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience: 

  • Required
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in product management roles, with at least 5 years in the aerospace industry.
    • Proven track record of leading successful product initiatives and projects.
    • Deep understanding of the aerospace market, including industry trends and regulatory requirements.
    • Proficiency in advanced product management and software development methodologies.
    • Experience with market analysis and competitive analysis.

 

  • Preferred
    • Experience with commercial spaceflight and space station operations.
    • Knowledge of international aerospace markets and regulations.
    • Strong network within the aerospace industry.

Physical Requirements 

 

  1. The work is sedentary, requiring low levels of physical activity. A candidate should be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. 
  2. The workplace operates under core working hours as defined by company policy. However, work schedules may vary based on business needs.  If a schedule needs to be changed, managers will notify their employees.  
  3. The work requires close visual acuity to perform activities. A candidate should be able to do the following activities without issue: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes; operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment. 
  4. The work will require the employee to make repetitive motions and manipulate objects using their arms, hands, and fingers. The employee will be required to express and exchange ideas using spoken instructions accurately, loudly, and quickly. The employee will also need to discriminate sound at normal speaking levels without correction and can receive detailed information through oral communications.
