Job description

We are seeking a talented program manager to join our team that supports U.S. defense and intelligence community partners. We are developing the next generation of signal and image processing software, building on our 75+ year history on the cutting edge in the radar and electro-optical fields. These teams have received numerous patents and developed revolutionary and exquisite technologies throughout our history that is continuing with our current work.

 

We are seeking a Control Account Manager to support Earned Value Management oversight of one of our most critical and largest programs. In this role, you will support the Program Manager by overseeing the budget and schedule for part of the program and coordinate with our technical teams on the delivery of that work. This role provides opportunities to learn about radar phenomenology, program execution, and customer interaction and is well-suited to an experienced program manager who has overseen smaller programs or an individual seeking program management experience.

The team is primarily based in Ypsilanti, Michigan with qualified applicants in Ypsilanti or Herndon, VA encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates can work in that location or out of our Herndon, VA facility where we have other team members already working. This work requires candidates to be a US citizen holding a Top Secret Clearance.

 

Responsibilities:

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage the cost and schedule for work within the assigned control account
  • Identify and communicate gaps across team and coordinate cross-team dependencies with technical leadership
  • Work with Earned Value Analyst to report cost and schedule variances to customer by reviewing spreadsheets and tools such as Jira and explain root causes of variances, identify the impact of the variance on the program, and identify any corrective actions
  • Communicate with technical leadership to understand plans and how individual technical teams’ work integrates with the program
  •  Participate in customer meetings, including preparing material and presenting information related to the control account
  •  Update control account staffing plans in planning tools and review timecards for proper charging

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current/active TS clearance.
  • Work full-time on-site.
  • Bachelor's degree or 8 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate both technical and financial information at an executive level.
  • Experience in presenting in a customer setting.
  • Must be willing to work on-site.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management.
  • Work in formal software development methodologies (Agile).
  • Desire to learn and tackle some of the nation’s most challenging software issues.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, primarily Excel.

Location: 

Join us at ARKA’s headquarters in Herndon, VA.  In this position, you will be providing support to and representing all the units that make up ARKA, including Space & Defense Systems, Advanced Communications & Mission Applications, and ARKA International.
