This role is for the individual who is excited by the future of space and will thrive on inspiring the nation to bring people on the journey with us to the Moon and beyond. This position centres around outreach initiatives associated with the Australian Space Agency’s Moon to Mars Program and will be pivotal in positioning Lunar Outpost Oceania as a globally competitive innovator of cutting-edge technologies and proprietary autonomous robotic systems for the space, resources and defence industries. It will require a motivated and driven marketing and communications professional to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, while coordinating and collaborating with a wide variety of individuals both internal and external to the company.
This position starts with understanding Lunar Outpost Oceania’s immediate and long-term vision and consulting with company leadership to develop a strategy that drives us to our stated goals and objectives. It extends into leading marketing, communications, and outreach efforts in collaboration with the Australian Space Agency and ELO2 Consortium partners and leveraging conference and event opportunities to promote positive industry relationships. This will include planning and executing effective marketing, communications, and outreach initiatives and tailoring the communications approach necessary to reach specific target audiences. As department lead, reporting to the Operations Director, you will also be responsible for creating and improving business processes and procedures and creating a positive working environment to ensure team success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a marketing and communications strategy for Lunar Outpost Oceania in collaboration with the leadership team and parent company marketing team to ensure strategic alignment of regional objectives with global priorities.
- Create, implement and monitor the ELO2 Consortium marketing, communications, and outreach strategy, consulting closely with the leadership team, ELO2 Consortium partners and Australian Space Agency to ensure the outcomes of the ‘Roo-ver’ mission are met.
- Establish separate brand strategies and voices for Lunar Outpost Oceania and the ELO2 Consortium, taking ownership of the two brands to ensure consistency in the content and collateral created for each.
- Design tactical campaigns at a brand and product level, with a balance between online and offline strategies, and monitor results to inform future execution plans.
- Produce and publish engaging customer-facing content including product information, website content, newsletters, press releases, and social media posts and conversations.
- Build the annual marketing budget and manage expenditure.
- Project manage and coordinate promotional efforts including social media, direct marketing, events, conferences, sponsorships, and public relations.
- Manage the day-to-day marketing operations, manage and mentor the small marketing support team, engage and oversee third-party vendors, and maintain positive media relationships.
- Generate customer lists, develop media and content, identify appropriate channels, and target trade show opportunities to support the business development team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field.
- Experience leading the complete marketing and communications process and managing campaigns from start to finish.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate strategies and present opportunities to gain approval and support from decision makers.
- Impeccable written and oral communication skills with highly calibrated sense of judgment and relentless attention to detail to screen content for proprietary data.
- Exceptional organisation and time management skills, an innate sense of urgency and extraordinary multitasking skills.
- Self-motivated, focused and driven to meet critical deadlines.
- Data driven and analytical with strong demonstration of a "test, measure, learn" mentality.
- Tech savvy with a deep understanding of digital channels and eagerness to drive engagement and growth through organic/unpaid digital campaigns.
- Agility to learn new platforms (e.g., , etc.).
- Desire to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in STEM communication.
- Knowledge of the space industry and market.
- Previous experience marketing innovative emerging technologies.
- Experience working in a startup environment.
- Experience in philanthropic efforts – especially education or student outreach.
- Experience in HubSpot, Later, Canva, Asana, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Content capture experience and photo/video editing skills.
