Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space System Division has an opening for a Mission/Quality Engineering Manager 2, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.

Job Summary:

Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.  Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team within the larger organizational unit, setting & operating to objectives & providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives & company policy.

  • Regularly performs analysis of alternative courses of action. Decisions have risk/reward implications for program or area of influence.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with other functional managers, process center leaders, value stream leaders and value stream owner(s) to meet division, value stream, and quality objectives.

  • Establishes operating procedures that affect organizational unit(s). Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with the manufacturing and design teams to achieve product and site goals and overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved. Provide proposal support.

  • Serves in the role of Management Representative as required per AS9100 and coordinates 3rd party audits, including ensuring resources are prepared and available to support.

  • Accountable for Quality Inspection and Quality Engineering resource and budget planning.

  • Accountable to ensure Quality Management System is effective and followed.

  • Review trend metrics and analyze misses. Use metrics on a daily basis for making decisions on personnel, tools, and process effectiveness.

  • Facilitate root cause determination and resolve quality issues, including nonconformance (NC), corrective action (CA), and EIDP.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) plus years of relevant work experience; OR nine (9) years of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Two (2) years' experience leading people, projects, or programs with the ability to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment; OR four (4) years of experience in absence of degree.

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP and government standards).

  • Ability to communicate, manage and achieve site tactical and strategic goals for assigned value stream.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NG QMS familiarity

  • ISO 9001/AS9100 familiarity

Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
