The Position
We’re on the hunt for an Intermediate Software Engineer/MTS (Member of Technical Staff) on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.
With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.
As an Intermediate Software Engineer/MTS, you would be part of a highly talented team to design, implement, maintain, and test safety critical, software solutions. You will have the opportunity to learn from highly experienced Software Engineers to develop modular, efficient, and robust Software that are/will be part of our robotics solutions for space applications.
Job Responsibilities:
As part of a team:
- Implement software to satisfy design/requirements.
- Under the guidance of a senior engineer, perform software design activities.
- Create and execute unit tests ensuring proper test coverage.
- Ensure code meets our internal coding standards.
- Document the design, code, and tests.
- Participate in peer code reviews.
- Participate in review meetings with customer.
- Support hardware/software integration tests.
- Participate in field trials and demos as needed.
- Other duties as will be assigned from time to time by management or a team lead.
Required Skills/Experience
- Strong programming knowledge in on or more of the following languages: C/C++, Python, C#, Java, Rust or other Object-Oriented languages.
- Software Design principles.
- Software Configuration Management tools (preferably Git)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and a positive thinker
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Beneficial Skills/Experience:
- Processor and memory architectures
- GUI/HMI
- Sensor integration (encoders, optical sensors, potentiometers, range sensors, force/torque sensors, etc)
- Communications interfaces (SPI, EtherCAT, CANOpen, TTE, etc.)
- V&V
- Working with robotics
- Strong academic record
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

Salary:
The compensation range for this position is $78,000 - $90,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate
