Description:Lockheed Martin, a leader in advancing secure communications and cutting-edge defense technology, is seeking a Software Architect to join our team in King of Prussia, PA. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical projects that protect and serve our nation’s defense.

You will be working on military satellite communications (SATCOM) Ground systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software architecture, system integration, and web application development. As a Software Architect, you will play a key role in designing a cloud-based architecture, integrating multiple web applications into a cohesive system, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange between the various components.

As a Software Architect you will:
▪️ Develop and maintain the overall software architecture for the Ground system, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives
▪️ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and operations, to ensure successful integration of the web applications and frameworks
▪️ Design and implement integration patterns, APIs, and data models to enable communication between disparate systems
▪️ Develop and maintain technical roadmaps, architecture diagrams, and design documents to guide the development team
▪️ Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and security requirements
▪️ Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize integration requirements
▪️ Develop and execute proof-of-concepts (POCs) to validate architectural decisions
▪️ Provide technical guidance and oversight to the development teams
▪️ Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues
▪️ Collaborate with testing teams to develop and execute integration testing plans

This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a government security clearance, as the facility requires special access.

Successful applicants typically possess at least 14 years of professional work experience in this area.
Basic Qualifications:
▪️ Experience in cloud-based architectures and development, with a focus on system integration
▪️ Experience with web application development, including Angular, React, C#, and modern web frameworks
▪️ Strong knowledge of software architecture patterns, including microservices, event-driven architecture, and service-oriented architecture
▪️ Experience with API design and development, including RESTful APIs
▪️ Strong understanding of data modeling and database design
▪️ Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes)
▪️ Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
▪️ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
▪️ Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), particularly in secure, high-performance applications.
▪️ Proficiency in Agile methodologies such as Scrum, including experience with test-driven development (TDD) or behavior-driven development (BDD).
▪️ Final secret clearance
Desired Skills:
▪️ Bachelor’s and or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
▪️ Familiarity with military SATCOM systems and secure communication protocols.
▪️ Familiarity with DevSecOps process, tools and frameworks.
▪️ Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
▪️ Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
▪️ Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements
▪️ Experience with DevOps practices and tools
▪️ Familiarity with container security and vulnerability management
▪️ Experience with technical writing and documentation

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $123,500 - $236,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $142,100 - $267,600. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
