We are looking for a Federal Programs Project Manager (Member of Technical Staff/ Senior Member of Technical Staff– Technical Project Management). Within the Federal Programs Division (FPD) subdivision, you will be part of a diverse team providing technical expertise and analysis-based decision support. The successful candidate improves the quality of task execution, project coordination, and control activities across the FPD portfolio, while managing technical and analytical aspects for various projects, investigations, and analyses related to civil space systems to include DHS, FAA, DOC, and NSF. The candidate also supports the FPD business rhythm through providing technical analysis, maintaining metrics, compiling reports, and monitoring workflows.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Crystal City, VA, offering a 100% onsite work model, option for Hybrid that combines 4-5 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop recommendations to support efficiencies and cost savings, including improvements for collecting, consolidating, and analyzing project data to extract key takeaways.
  • Partner with technical Principal Investigators (PIs), gaining a basic understanding of projects, identifying risks and issues, and escalating where necessary.
  • Deliver monthly status reports to customers and senior leadership, capturing key contributions and progress.
  • Assist in implementing data analyses, data products, and metrics for program management offices; conduct data analysis to support project reporting and decision-making processes.
  • Manage contract deliverables, technical publications, and travel reports to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Oversee monthly invoicing and ensure customer invoices are submitted and paid.
  • Perform data management tasks, including managing SharePoint repositories and conducting data analysis to support project reporting and decision-making.
  • Manage the Aerospace Demonstration and Visualization Center (ADVC) to coordinate with Enterprise Information Services (EIS) personnel, establish operational standards for effective use of space, and oversee schedule for facilities access, operations, and maintenance.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the < Member of Technical Staff- Technical Project Management >

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in a relevant field such as science, engineering, or another related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of increasingly responsible and related engineering, scientific, and/or technical project management experience.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and proactive ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint).
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site approx. 10% of the time.
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the < Senior Member of Technical Staff- Technical Project Management > include:

  • At least 5 years of increasingly responsible and related engineering, scientific, and/or technical project management experience.
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to adapt to changing organizational needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of a variety of techniques, procedures, and criteria.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • An advanced degree from an accredited program in a relevant field such as science, engineering, or business.
  • More than 5 years of integration and logistical planning, coordination, and execution responsibility for a collaborative organization.
  • Relevant certifications such as Six Sigma or Project Management Professional.
  • Experience with civil or commercial space industries.
  • Experience in managing data analytics, data governance, and or digital engineering.
  • Data management and project tool proficiency.
