In order to manage the ESA's human spaceflight at The Columbus Control Center (Col CC) in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich, Germany, we are currently seeking to employ a motivated and enthusiastic Flight Director (call sign Columbus FLIGHT). The main objective will be to manage and integrate flight operations for ESA's human spaceflight.
 
Security:
In line with security requirements, the candidate has to hold an European citizenship. Evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process. Furthermore, in view of the nature of the work the company is in, all potential employees will undergo stringent reference and identity checks.

What you´ll do

  • Be responsible for the leadership of the Columbus Flight Control Team (FCT), for safety and mission success in the real-time execution of ESA's human spaceflight operations
  • Maintain direct contact with the NASA counterpart in Houston and with the various European control centers that support the experiments in the Columbus module
  • Lead the development of flight techniques and mission rules to support generic and mission specific objectives and be responsible for flight rules development and approval
  • Ensure an integrated FCT position on all critical topics and requirements in end-to-end mission execution
  • Develop the operational concepts and mission execution plans in support of complex ISS payloads and systems to ensure optimal crew and vehicle safety while achieving planned mission objectives
  • Mentor and train Columbus Flight Director candidates

What we are looking for

  • University degree in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in Human Spaceflight Operations
  • Fluency in English 
  • Commitment and willingness to work in a 24/7 shift
