About the Role:
We are seeking a Government Proposal Technical Writer who is focused on researching & writing compliant proposals. The primary responsibilities of the role include: (1) supporting the day-to-day proposal needs of the commercial team; (2) owning and executing parts of the proposal or tender processes; (3) building relationships (both internal and external stakeholders); and (4) assisting with proposal status & negotiations when necessary. This is a full-time, remote position based in Australia.
Impact You’ll Own:
- Researching, writing, and organizing information in a professional manner.
- Reviewing, editing, and proofreading Requests for (RFx) responses and other materials for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with RFx instructions.
- Conducting in-depth interviews with subject matter specialists or groups (in a business arrangement) and converting information into meaningful RFx responses
- Writing clear, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections, including executive summaries, technical approaches, technical annexes.
What You Bring:
- 4+ years of relevant experience, of which 2+ years is in proposal or tender writing within a government sector setting.
- Experience in translating technical and other ideas into understandable proposal text.
- Experience in project managing proposal processes from start to finish.
- Excellent sense of accountability, integrity and taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
- Ability to work with stringent deadlines, varying priorities, and simultaneously projects for timely RFx response submissions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and teams at all levels of an organization.
- Knowledge of material non-public information obligations and responsibilities; including a demonstrated ability to handle need-to-know and restricted information with discretion and in accordance with legal, ethical, and proposal management industry standards.
- Ability to maintain a graceful and helpful customer service attitude, particularly in high-pressure and time-crunched circumstances
- Experience taking initiative, working independently, and being highly analytical.
- Ability to interpret conflicting information, weigh various options for risk management, and convey possible options when working on complex proposals
- Adept in Google Documents, Adobe, MS Word, and Excel.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience with complex RFx processes and packages.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in government (civil or defense) RFx proposal management (preferably as a technical proposal writer).
- Experience working in a fast-paced research and development environment.
- Certificate in business technical writing or technical communication (such as from the Society for Technical Communication, Technical Writer HQ, or an accredited university)
- Background in engineering, satellite hardware, technical geospatial, or aerospace industry.
