Within the CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight. We are looking for a Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) Lifecycle Review Engineer (Senior Member of the Technical Staff/ Project Engineer – Technical Project Management). In this role you will support the NASA Johnson Space Center Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program’s (EHP), Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) Program office.
NASA’s Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program provides safe, reliable, and effective spacewalking and surface mobility capabilities that allow astronauts to survive and work outside the confines of a spacecraft to explore on and around the Moon. The LTV will be the lunar surface terrain vehicle with advanced power management, autonomous driving, state of the art communications and navigation systems, along with other extreme environment technologies that will provide the ability to collect and conduct science while keeping astronauts and the vehicle safe and ready for its next mission.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, offering a 100% onsite work model with limited remote flexibility as the business and customer needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Serve as the lead LCR team member to facilitate requirements levied by NPR 7120.5 in preparation for all Life Cycle Reviews (LCRs) or Key Decision Points (KDPs).
- Facilitate guidance to the on the level of the maturity matrix products for each stage of the LCR or phase of the KDP.
- Draft, develop, and manage the Project Plan and manage all Maturity Matrix Products for baseline and revision for all LCR/KDPs.
- Review all Program and Project maturity matrix products within the milestone tool for all LCRs or KDPs or acquisitions.
- Interface with management to assist with the development of the Executive documentation with the NASA Headquarters secretariat for all Mission Directorate Program Management Council (DPMC) and Agency Program Management Council (APMC).
- Assist the Program Executive to facilitate information, develop presentations, and edit presentations with the NASA Headquarters assigned secretariat.
- Provide a consistent interface with management to progress the processes developed and used by the office; guide the internal teams and gather information on new or upcoming processes in-work to prepare for implementation within the office or on an LCR.
- Primary interface with SE&I manager and LCR Review Managers. Meet regularly to create and develop a successful technical plan for executing all Project LCRs.
- Attend and lead/drive the LCR Working Group with bi-weekly to review all LCR schedules, refine or collaborate on LCR practices/processes, execute lessons learned, etc.
SharePoint and Teams development and maintenance (20%)
- Creation of new SharePoint Online (SPOL) pages as requested by the customer.
- Maintenance of existing SPOL pages, including retirement of old pages, by working with team leadership to ensure content and links on internal NASA pages is current and correct.
- Creation and maintenance of Team channels as requested by the customer.
- Interface with NASA leadership and team members as well as serving as SharePoint POC in related teams.
- Review coordination of internal documents: Working with the product owners on timelines and distribution/tracking of documents across the agency.
- Improve and update SPOL and Teams as vendor updates become available.
- Perform other duties for the customer, as required.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the <Senior Member of Technical Staff- Technical Project Management>
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or other applicable STEM areas
- At least 3 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience, ideally within the NASA environment
- 3+ years’ experience working across diverse teams and different engineering disciplines
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Tool Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge and understanding of the NASA program life cycle processes and program/project management stages
- Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels
- Ability to work effectively and quickly in real-time environments of rapid change, conflicting requirements, and occasional pressure
- Willing to travel domestically approx. 10%
- This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the <Project Engineer- Technical Project Management> include:
- At least 6 years of increasingly responsible professional experience, ideally within the NASA environment
- Experience leading small technical teams
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
