Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.
The Software Tools & Assurance Department couples the latest in technologies, such as cloud, containerization, microservices, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in digital engineering, software architecture, software engineering, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers.
Work Model
- This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, CA, offering a hybrid work model that combines 3 regular onsite workdays and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing software systems engineering skills to space, ground, and launch systems in the national security, civil, and commercial domains.
- Applying skills and adaptability in various areas that may include resolution of software systems issues. Support may include software development; software architectures; enterprise systems; technology recommendations; cloud and virtualization deployments; microservices and API development; and systems modeling.
- Identifying exciting and innovative opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.
- Influence team members with creative changes and improvements by challenging status quo and demonstrating risk taking.
- Operates strategically through engaging with customers in leveraging the latest technology that provides innovative solutions to their challenging problems in the space arena.
What You Need to be Successful – Senior Engineering Specialist – Software Architecture & Systems Software Engineering
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM, with major in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 12 or more years of industry work experience.
- . Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong software engineering life-cycle experience and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability on designing and managing data lakes and implementing efficient data pipeline solutions.
- Demonstrated expertise in model based systems engineering (MBSE) and advanced complex systems modeling.
- Experience in at least two of the following areas:
- DODAF and generation of related models and dashboards
- AI/ML (LLM, Neural Network, NLP, etc.)
- Alternative software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.)
- Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site domestically/internationally approx. 20%
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Master’s degree from an accredited program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
- 15 or more years of industry work experience.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in three or more of the following areas:
- DODAF and generation of related models and dashboards
- Data lakes and data pipelining
- Model-based systems engineering and complex systems modeling
- AI/ML (LLM, Neural Network, NLP, etc.)
Alternative software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.)

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
