Job description
Duties
- Develops and/or supports government mandatory inspection point requirements to ensure contract quality maintains the required standard levels for operations.
- Reviews contractor production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements.
- Verifies that products offered to NASA comply with contractual requirements before they are accepted.
- Conducts audits of products and processes for conformance to specifications and to detect processing and technical documentation deficiencies recommending corrective action, including establishment of acceptable quality levels.
- Develops/supports quality surveillance plans to ensure that contractor understands NASA’s contractual requirements.
- Evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of the contractor’s quality inspection system and reports those findings via written or verbal, with recommendations to the Branch and Division Chief.
- Reviews the contractor’s written quality or inspection procedures (when required by the contract) for adequacy.
- Participates in fact-finding and negotiation of contracts and contract changes to ensure reasonable and proper level of contractor quality efforts are established.

Qualifications
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
- Reviewing or performing technical work on aircraft and aircraft systems related to aircraft quality assurance, maintenance, or logistics;
- Applying technical requirements, technical orders, or FAA regulations pertaining to maintenance, modification, testing, or operation of aircraft and systems;
- Ensuring compliance with federal aircraft safety requirements and mandates (e.g., U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy).
